Chauncey Saurus grew up in Nashville, TN, and attended Harpeth Hall before earning a BFA in sculpture from Georgia State University. During her university years, she helped her partner start two companies and later entered the film and television industry as a prop maker and set dresser. This experience led her to discover a passion for industrial design, prompting her to pursue a Master of Industrial Design at Georgia Institute of Technology while working as a teaching and research assistant and having a child.
Despite a 12-year hiatus from professional design, Chauncey continued to engage in carpentry, interior design, costume fabrication and product design on the side of her commercial real estate career.
Chauncey was recently able to begin working on her design work as her focus, spending more time working in ceramic. She has two new series of ceramic sculptures finished in 2023 & 2024.
